The creation of the website opens the door to the cyber world of the RDA, SPMC Burn Institute. Accessible to all purveyors in Burn Care. We will be sharing our knowledge in Burn Management in this part of the world.
Patients of different ethnic and cultural diversity afflicted with burns of diverse causes preventing for treatment at the Burn Institute coming from the city communities and outlying provinces in Mindanao. Common among these are the victims of accident, they are financially challenged to underwrite their treatment. They involve the major bread winner of the family or an active member of the labor force. All of them presenting with burn injury of various etiology and extent of body surface area involved.
While we were able to save a good number of burn patients, we lost some due to overwhelming infection. Extensive body surface area burns multi organ failure and pulmonary infection. Majority of the factors contributing to the mortality are delayed referral, delayed burn resuscitation inability to continue uninterrupted their antibiotic and burn anti microbial agent.
