SPMC – MINDANAO BURN UNIT

On December 14, 1989 this hospital wing was segregated and used in the confinement and treament of burn patients. May 8, 2000, the PCSO financed renovation of the biggest Burn Unit in the Philippines opened, “The Mindanao Burn Center”, Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries Inc. donated the Hubbard Tank and patient lifter of their Hospital to the Mindanao Burn Center. The Burn Unit was born out of the passion of the DR. RIZAL D. APORTADERA who dedicated his time and effort in sourcing for donors of equipment and medical supplies and in the active training of surgical residents in Burns by impairing to them the knoledge and skills in burn management and most importantly in instilling into their person, passion and compassion for the plight of hapless burn victims. This Burn Center is dedicated to the future generation of surgeons in the hope that those who will pass this Center will develop excellence in their skills and compassion for the travails of the Burn patients.

Unveiled on the 12th day of December Year 2013.
